I’ve been coming here for the past two year of college and got my emotional support fish from here my freshman year of college. Humphrey is the healthiest Betta I have ever had and every time I go back for advice he’s so nice and helpful. He gives good advice for tank mates and plants as well as products. I also just go in to look at the animals as I miss my pets at home and he always is kind and lets me see the animals. I love the chinchillas he had this week and he showed my friend and I how to give them raisins. Love him🫶🏽❤️

If you love Axolotls, Nanofish & Shrimp this is the place!!!🌊🦐 Wide variety of nano fish, hard to obtain drawf shrimps and exotic rabbit snails/ pagoda snails. Big chain pet stores like Petsmart and Petco never sell nano fish and always disappoint me with small selection of tissue culture plants. I really want to see this local fishshop prosper because they're so unique and underrated. Thanks to this shop my aquarium I started three years ago looks amazing.

I got another betta fish and all the materials for it from this cute store for my son’s new school, and the owner did not disappoint again! This was my second purchase from this store. The owner is very well informed, super helpful and does not really try to hard sell anything. He also showed the snakes and turtles to my son without us even requesting, and my son had an amazing experience. I also appreciate the reasonable prices at this store compared to other big stores or even Amazon. Highly recommend it!

Purchased a betta fish just before lockdown. Compared to chain stores, the bettas at BFLF swim within roomier and aerated tanks. We really enjoy our vibrant and interactive betta.

People understandably have polarizing opinions on animal care. But I can't fathom trusting the internet over the staff here, that obviously care about each and every animal (while I was in the store he refused a sale to another customer because the animal was too young and he needed it to grow first). He's been right every time when it comes to my beta fish and the fish I bought were very healthy and are now very happy thanks to the advice I got here.

The owner of this shop is great. He makes himself available over the phone and in person and has such a clear and evident passion for animals. This is a somerville/Cambridge gem. Today I bought some decorations and plants for my new nano shrimp tank and he was SO helpful and nice about it. I’m excited to know I have a local spot that I can rely on for great advice and great, caring pet supplies. Thank you boss!
